June 8: Affordable Housing Hearing at Land Use Committee

REP-SF Press Release: BLA Urges SF to Increase Affordable Housing through Significant Funding & Policy Solutions
On June 8, Supervisor Chyanne Chen (D11) held a critical hearing on affordable housing at the Board of Supervisors’ Land Use Committee. The Board’s Budget & Legislative Analyst (BLA) presented the findings of its new report, commissioned by Supervisor Chen, on the City’s progress towards its affordable housing goals. REP-SF members spoke during public comment to provide critical context and insight into the funding and policy solutions that the BLA’s report recommends SF pursue to significantly increase access to affordable housing.
“We are grateful to Supervisor Chen and the District 11 Office for commissioning this BLA report and for pushing the City to engage in meaningful policy discussions around the need to significantly increase access to affordable housing,” said Jeantelle Laberinto, community organizer with the REP-SF Coalition. “The BLA report is significant in its presentation of policy and funding solutions for San Francisco to pursue right now to put the City on the right track. San Francisco can and must implement multiple strategies to increase access to affordable housing and meet the needs of our communities.”
Our press release features quotes from REP-SF members Jeantelle Laberinto, Zachary Frial (South of Market Community Action Network/SOMCAN), Reina Tello (PODER), and Christin Evans (Small Business Forward).
Please watch and share these videos of our REP-SF members Zachary Frial, Teresa Dulalas (SOMCAN), and Jeantelle Laberinto (People Power Media) giving powerful public comments during the hearing! Follow @repcoalitionsf and stay tuned for more updates!

June 2026: SF Election Results
|
Thank you to everyone who joined us in voting No on C and Yes on D to make corporations pay their fair share! At REP-SF, we believe that the companies benefiting most from San Francisco’s economy should contribute more to the public good, supporting services and housing investments that make the city more livable for everyone.
Unfortunately, Prop D did not pass. Read from the SF People's Budget Coalition about the impact of not passing Prop D: Thousands of people could lose their jobs and access to life-saving services.
As noted in 48Hills, tech plutocrats won a lot in this election. Most San Franciscans didn't vote. The money billionaires poured in to defeat Prop D was astounding. And Mayor Lurie got everything he wanted. Read more about the June primary results in Mission Local.

People's Budget Week of Action: Fight 4 OUR San Francisco
|
City Hall is making decisions now that will shape the future of our communities. This Week of Action, from June 15-18, our REP-SF members have been participating with the SF People's Budget Coalition, taking action to demand that City Hall find the money and restore the cuts to essential services and the safety net.
Today, Thursday, June 18 is the all-community action, with singing, cultural performances, a Renegade Resource Fair, art-making, a community picnic, and a press conference. Thank you to everyone who brought out their people and showed up to fight for a budget rooted in care, dignity, and real recovery.

June 21: Anti-Eviction Book Launch
|
Anti-Eviction: The fight against tech-led gentrification in San Francisco
Sunday, June 21, 7 pm Medicine for Nightmares (3036 24th St)
Manissa Maharawal will be launching her book about Anti-Eviction organizing in San Francisco surrounding the birth of our allied coalition, SFADC. As we head into another wave of speculation driven by a tech bubble and predicated on the displacement of the communities we are deeply rooted in, we need to be reminded of the vibrant, effective movement that defined that moment, and we need time to reflect on what lessons we can carry forward into the crisis we are in today. Manissa will launch her book in conversation with Molly Goldberg, Fred Sherburn-Zimmer, & Claudia Tirado, a tenant who very publicly fought her own eviction in that period and won.
