Community Victory: A People's Budget for San Francisco!
|
The night of June 26, the Board of Supervisors rejected a budget that would slash the services that everyday San Franciscans rely on to live in this city. They instead supported a PEOPLE'S BUDGET. There’s still work to do. Not all the cuts have been fully restored, and next year’s deficit is projected to be worse than this year’s. But we celebrate our wins. To all of our REP-SF members and allies who supported the SF People's Budget Coalition, WE THANK YOU! This is a tremendous win for community and labor groups, as well as every resident of San Francisco who benefits from a safe, caring, connected, and vibrant city. Read more from the SF People's Budget Coalition about what we won back for our communities.

Take Our Affordable Housing Survey!
|
REP-SF and member org South of Market Community Action Network (SOMCAN) are conducting a survey about the housing needs of people living in San Francisco. We will compile the data from this survey into a report that we will use to 1) advocate for the preservation and expansion of affordable housing in San Francisco, and 2) enable low-income people, immigrants, and people of color to live close to employment, transit, and essential services. Anyone who lives in San Francisco and is at least 18 years old can take the survey! It will only take 10 minutes of your time. The survey is available in five languages: ENGLISH, FILIPINO, CHINESE, SPANISH, & VIETNAMESE. Please reach out to Zachary Frial at zfrial@somcan.org if you have any questions.

New Video Series: Who Is San Francisco Building For?
|
REP-SF member People Power Media has just launched a video series discussing the key findings of its new housing report,“Who is San Francisco Building For?” The report provides the most complete picture of who San Francisco developers are building housing for – and who developers are excluding. This report reveals that the City is over-building housing that most San Franciscans cannot afford. The City's policies only support building for profit and not for need. Watch Part 1 & Part 2 Now! Follow @peoplepowermedia on Instagram for more videos coming soon! Read the full report: www.peoplepowermedia.org/ppm-report

Our allies at the SF Anti-Displacement Coalition (SFADC) are collecting tenant stories to demonstrate the impact of RUBS (Ratio Utility Billing System) and other junk fees on San Francisco tenants. The form is currently available in English, but will soon be translated into Spanish. Please submit your stories here!

August 15: Citywide Tenants Assembly
|
Saturday, August 15, 10:30 am | Jones Memorial United Methodist (1975 Post St)
As the AI boom drives up rents and evictions, tenants across San Francisco are coming together to stop displacement. We've done it before in the dot-com boom of the 1990s and the tech boom of the 2010s, and we are ready to stand up to defend one another and our homes again. SAVE THE DATE and join our allied coalition, the San Francisco Anti-Displacement Coalition (SFADC) for the Citywide Tenant Assembly: Connect with neighbors from across San Francisco to learn about why the rent is so high, hear from tenants who have successfully organized to lower the rent, win repairs, and fight for a city we all have a future in. RSVP here!
