Sept. 11: Counter-Rally & Planning Commission Hearing
Join REP-SF and our allies on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 11:15 am on the City Hall steps for a silent upzoning counter-rally in response to a rally hosted by Mayor Lurie and developer lobbyists. After the rally, join us inside City Hall at 12 pm for the Planning Commission hearing. During this hearing, the Planning Commission will vote on whether to approve the Mayor’s upzoning plan. Join us in urging the Planning Commission to say NO to the Mayor’s displacement plan, and instead invest in a real community plan to refocus on affordability and community stability! Suggested talking points will be provided for public comment.

The REP-SF Advocacy Platform outlines our demands around the City’s upzonings, including advancing affordable housing first, community stability, real family and dignified housing, and affirmatively furthering fair housing. Our Advocacy Platform also focuses on strengthening protections for small businesses and tenants to prevent displacement and support those who have been displaced.

HUD Tenants Speak OUT — And Mayor Lurie Hears!
The Citywide Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Alliance (a growing coalition of public housing tenants from across San Francisco) took their demands directly to the offices of Mayor Lurie to get his attention and ensure that he personally witnessed the conditions HUD tenants live in here in San Francisco. On July 29, residents of Plaza East, Thomas Paine Apartments, and Frederick Douglass Haynes Gardens in the Fillmore walked Mayor Lurie through their homes to show him the conditions they are forced to live in every day. This walkthrough was not initiated by the City, it happened because residents, as part of the Citywide HUD Alliance, organized a rally in front of City Hall and demanded action. That public action forced the Mayor to listen. Residents are demanding accountability for these buildings and these conditions. Mayor Lurie saw the truth on July 29th. Now it is time for action! MAKIBAKA: A Living Legacy Exhibit
Presented by SOMA Pilipinas in collaboration with YBCA | Aug. 1, 2025–Jan. 4, 2026
MAKIBAKA: A Living Legacy boldly celebrates the culture, contributions, and presence of the Filipino community in the South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood and Bay Area. Presented by REP-SF member SOMA Pilipinas in collaboration with YBCA, and inspired by the Filipino term for collective resistance, MAKIBAKA brings together contemporary artworks alongside community-held objects, memories, and movements. It traces the presence of a people who have shaped – and continue to shape – San Francisco through survival and the labor of building culture, kinship, and home. MAKIBAKA: A Living Legacy understands legacy as ongoing struggle, carried forward by artists, elders, mothers, tenants, workers, and youth. Come and see REP-SF member South of Market Community Action Network (SOMCAN)'s installation as a featured organization in the exhibition. Get your tickets now!
